In this summer home designed by Summer Thornton, the open concept of the great room and dining room (with 20' ceilings) allowed the space for a fabulous collection of blue and white porcelain and lots of bird art. Summer and the home owner tracked down hundreds of pieces of the porcelain to layer on tabletops and use as sidetables, among other uses.
Also, the use of sea coral and the color coral splashed throughout adds another thread that flows through the rooms.
This is a beautiful vignette in the foyer with the
mix of coral and blue and white porcelain.
The handpainted panels by Allison Cosmos
add a dramatic flair, as well.
I particularly like the wicker chairs in this dining area of the great room.
The designer explains how the curved arm of the chair gives it more of an
indoor look, as opposed to an outdoor wicker chair.
Notice the blue and white lamps on the sofa table, blue and white vases and end table.
The bird art was commissioned to reflect the birds the homeowners see when
they look out their windows - herons, egrets and warblers.
This lanai becomes part of the great room just by pushing a wall aside.
I love that concept! It becomes one large room!
The guest room has more of the blue and white porcelain and the same color fabric
as in the great room.
More bird art reflected in the powder room mirror.
A lovely, carefully thought through and relaxed family getaway for one or all of the family and friends!
