Taking a little break from Christmas ideas this morning to comment on today's announcement of Pantone's Colors of the Year 2016 - not one color, but two for the first time ever. And they are two of my favorite colors - pink (Rose Quartz) and blue (Serenity).
I know we'll be seeing a lot more of these combined colors soon, in fashion and interiors.
As the Executive Director of Pantone's Color Institute explains, “In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design,” Leatrice Eiseman said. “This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged, and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.”
I've been pinning 'pinks and blues' for some time, so it was easy for me to come up with these images on short notice. I didn't have time to look for these colors in fashion today, but we're sure to be seeing more of them very soon.
As you can see, these colors have been used together for a long time, but from now on when we see them together, they will have new meaning perhaps......"gender equality and fluidity".
Have a great weekend and hope you enjoy the pretty images below.
