This 650 sq. ft. garage turned guest house is a perfect example of creativity at its best.
When designers Marshall Watson and Jeffrey Kilmer were called upon to design a guest house for these Salt Lake City homeowners, the request was that they come up with a 'fantasy' design so that visiting guests would feel it was a total escape to a Swedish countryside cottage. With seven children (five of whom are gone from home and return frequently), this nest is well used.
Whether for a guest space, an in-law suite or whatever, this space is cozy and welcoming any time of the year!
One of the first things you see as you enter is the Swedish Mora clock and that sets the pace for the rest of the space. Pulling the furniture away from the walls in the living/dining areas adds volume to the space. While the furniture is small scale it manages to provide all the functionality required for guest house living.........all the amenities are at their fingertips.
How charming is this cozy space!!
The bull's eye mirror above the mantel helps expand the space.
The table is narrow but still plenty big enough to seat four people.
Love the oversized headboard!
